SUMMER 2019 PROGRAMS
Coast Adventure School will be offering three programs this summer:
Immersing students in the mountains and forests of Vancouver Island, this 5 day adventure culminates in a multi-day mountain expedition. Participants will be challenged both individually and as a team through active learning in trip planning and preparation, risk management, shelter construction, rock climbing, rope work, and backcountry cooking. This is a co-ed program. Gender specific courses will be offered based on demand.
Taking place on Vancouver Island's stunning west coast, this Pacific adventure includes multi-day coastal trekking, surfing, and ocean education and conservation. Participants will develop the knowledge and skills to safely recreate in marine environments while having a ton of fun in one of the world's most pristine coastal settings. This is a co-ed program. Gender specific courses will be offered based on demand.
An opportunity to begin the transition from participant to leader, this week long program will challenge students to take on leadership roles in a safe and supportive environment. Learning trip planning, emergency preparedness, wilderness awareness, navigation, vegetation identification, rope work, shelter construction, wilderness survival, and basic wilderness First Aid, students will leave with a First Aid certificate and empowered to adventure on their own and potentially return as Coast Adventure School junior instructors. This is a co-ed program.
